ALLPlayer-Version 5.0

AllPlayer is a program for watching movies with matching subtitles. It plays all known media formats, RAR files, and futhermore has an implemented LiveUpdate function to update the latest codecs if there is a problem with opening a movie file. The program also searches for matching subtitles in all languages automatically. Intelligent Subtitles keeps the subtitles on the screen for the period of time needed for you to read them. AVI Doctor helps when you are downloading a torrent file and want to preview the movie. With AVI Doctor you can also fix broken files. With LiveUpdate you will get access to other skins and many additional programs and functions. Unlike most players, AllPlayer is not merely an overlay for MediaPlayer, and it uses DirectX, which makes it possible to play any movie. The program is also integrated with a speech synthesizer application, allowing you to watch movies with subtitles with a reader (dubbing). Most popular formats such as DivX, XviD, MP3, and AVI, FLV, MP4, 3GP, MKV, M2TS, MPG, MPEG, RMVB, WMV, QuickTime, MOV, FLAC, APE, and many more less known formats can be played thanks to codecs built into the program. Other features: DVD support. CD support. The option to preview images from webcams, DV or any other video source such as TV tuner. Two monitors or monitor and TV support. Support for Dolby Surround, SPDIF and 3D audio. PlayList--searching for all movies or music in a specified folder or drive and putting them into a playlist. Ability to choose any audio output, including SPDIF, allowing lossless digital transmission of sound to an amplifier. Subtitles support in all known formats (hh:mm:ss, ASS--Advanced SubStation, SSA--SubStation Alpha, SubRip. SubViewer (1 & 2), MicroDVD, MPL2 , SRT, SMI etc.). DivX Muxer - creates a DivX/XviD file with subtitles in it. Ability to display subtitles under the picture. Video menu - allows the creation of 3D menus as found on the average DVD. SnapShot. OSD.
What's new in this version: Version 5.0 adds a completely rebuilt, new engine, a modern new GUI with OSD, plays even more audio and video formats

Media files come in a lot of formats, and it's not always easy to find a program that can handle all of them. As the name implies, AllPlayer purports to be able to handle a wide variety of different audio and video formats, even obscure ones with little support. Although the program works, it's not without a catch.
AllPlayer's interface is sleek and attractive, with several skins to choose from. A series of buttons across the bottom provides the typical media player controls. We played several common types of audio and video files, including a DVD, with no problem, but when we tried one of the less-common file types, we ran into problems. Although AllPlayer's documentation states that it supports FLV files, when we tried to play one the program told us that we didn't have the appropriate codec and then tried to get us to pay $3 to get it. Some of the program's other features aren't entirely clear, either; although there's a function for creating playlists, when we tried to create one it wasn't obvious how we were supposed to actually add files to it (answer: drag and drop). There's no Help file, so if users have questions about any of AllPlayer's features, they're out of luck. We did like that the program lets users import subtitles and movie information from several sources. Overall, we liked AllPlayer, but users shouldn't expect it to solve all their media-playing problems, at least not without possibly ponying up a few dollars for the appropriate codecs.
AllPlayer installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.
